A Chinese company is set to build industrialization research, development and production base and building material warehouse supermarket in Athi River town, Machakos County.
China Wu Yi Co. Ltd’s Chairman Qiu Liangxin said the 101 million USD project is fully financed by the company.
Liangxin spoke during the project’s ground breaking ceremony in Athi River town on Thursday.
He said the project is expected to go into operation in June, 2017.
“China Wu Yi started the feasibility study, planning, environmental impact assessment study, selection of production equipment, project financing, project application for authentication, and other preparations at the beginning of 2015. After all this restless work, the company is now generally prepared for construction of the project,” said Liangxin.
Liangxin said the construction industrialization is a new technology, which will lead the trends in the Kenyan construction field.
He said the technology has experienced a development of around 80 years in Europe, America, Japan and Singapore and a history of more than 10 years in China.
“Now, the technology is getting mature, which is the reason why China brings it to Africa, to Kenya,” said Liangxin.
Liangxin said just like automobile production, the project will bring local Kenya people high-quality, low-cost, and environment-friendly housing products.
He said construction industrialization will bring revolutionary changes to housing construction in Kenya and even East Africa.
“This project will use construction industrialization technology and equipment from a famous German company called Ebawe, who is the most advanced and experienced company in design, engineering and installation of complete production plants for the manufacture of the most varied precast concrete panels,” said Liangxin.
Liangxin said after going into production, the project will produce 150,000 ㎡ ( around 1500 sets) of buildings annually and the houses will meet the Chinese and European standards as well as the favor of Kenya people.
He said the construction material supermarket will be the biggest and most comprehensive trade center for the wholesale of construction materials, hardware, and household appliances in Kenya and even East Africa.
Liangxin said the project will provide local people with 500~800 jobs every year.
