Kibera slums have been earmarked for an upgrade.
The news came after one of China’s middle schools and the AVIC International Holding Corporation hinted on a joint venture to help the slum kids.
According to a news statement posted at CCTV Africa website, Yali Middle School and AVIC International will construct a school in the heart of Kibera slums.
As this unfolds, Yali school has already sent a delegation to Kibera Girls Football Academy on a 12-day visit that is aimed at providing a platform for exchange programmes between students from both academic institutions.
At the moment, the Chinese team has sponsored at least thirteen students from the Kenyan school in Kibera, by paying their learning fees for one complete academic year.
Yali is also set to fund the construction of a fully furnished computer laboratory in Kibera Girls Soccer Academy, with the objective digitizing learning programmes in the school.
During their recent visit to the school, the Chinese delegation interacted with students from the slum school and encouraged them to work hard, pledging to fully sponsor more students from the school who perform well in their studies.
