The Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Mr Tian Lin has hailed Jomo Kenyatta of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) for launching Kenyan-made laptop.

The Taifa laptop is the first Kenyan laptop to be launched in an event graced by Deputy President William Ruto and Education CS Jacob Kaimenyi.

Speaking during the launch on Thursday, the ambassador said Kenya has moved a step higher and this is an indication towards making Kenya an industrialized nation.

Mr Lin said that China has partnered with Kenya to develop projects that deal with science and technology and JKUAT will be the first institution to benefit from the partnership.

“JKUAT will be the first institution to benefit from development projects in science and technology which Kenya has partnered with China,” assured Mr Lin.

He added that Chinese are impressed with the innovation of bright students and Chinese government will set research institutes in Kenya to accommodate great minds who are willing to make a difference in the world.

“Chinese government will set a research centre in Kenya to accommodate great minds which will bring about invention and innovation of products to make a difference in the world,” said the ambassador.

The ambassador hailed Kenyan government for allowing China to venture into business in Kenya and vowed to collaborate in line with vision 2030.

He said that China is ready to eradicate desertification in Kenya and promote modern Agriculture development which he says it will comprehensively advance science technology, ecological conservation and environment protection of Kenyan soil.
