The Chinese company behind the construction of Sh1.2 billion Sigiri bridge has responded after the project collapsed on Monday.
The Chinese Overseas Construction and Engineering Company has accepted responsibility for the mishap through their Project Manager Jerome Xzue Hua but stated that they are still baffled by the incident.
Hua, however, defended the company against claims that the did not adhere to the required standards in constructing the bridge.
“This is very unusual because all the standards and specifications required by the employer were met,” he said.“We have experienced engineers and we are equally baffled by what happened. We hope to find the root cause of the problem and rectify the matter.”
The respond by Hua come in a day after Kenyans expressed their displeasure with the unfortunate incident on social media.
