A Chinese national has been arraigned in a Nakuru court to answer to charges of staying and working in the country illegally.
Wu-Chong Kim, 39, was released on a Sh60,000 bond after denying the charges before resident magistrate Patrick Mwaniki who heard that the accused was found illegally staying and working in the country on October 20 this month at a Chinese restaurant in Nakuru town before he was arrested.
The prosecution told the court that the accused had failed to renew his immigration documents including a work permit after entering the country two years ago. The case will be heard on November 20.
And at the same court, a 27-year-old man from Njoro was remanded for failing to raise a cash bail of Sh5,000 after he was charged with being in possession of stolen goods. The court heard that on October 20, Humphrey Kihara was found in possession of electronic goods worth Sh2,000 belonging to Stac Institute in Njoro town.
The prosecution said the goods had been reported lost a few days after the accused did a casual job at the institution. The case will also be heard on November 20.
