The death toll from Cholera in Nakuru County has risen to 16 people with 183 patients currently having been treated for the disease. In a press briefing at his office on Monday, Nakuru Chief Public Health Officer Samuel King’ori said they were now working with private hospitals that have been treating Cholera patients to get the cumulative number of people who have been treated for the disease. “We want to incorporate them in the fight against Cholera and hence we have been reaching out to them to get information regarding their handling of the disease,” he said. According to King’ori, the county had called for a crisis meeting with the Baringo county government to deal with the outbreak in Mogotio. “We are especially concerned over the use of Molo River by the two counties. It is a major source of water and since the outbreak has been recorded in both counties, we are trying to come up with joint plans to fight the disease,” he said. Nakuru County Executive for Health Samuel Mwaura said that they had reached 46 street families with treatment. “We have approached them and given them proper treatment to prevent them from contracting the disease. We know that they reach and help so many people and hence they form an integral part of the society,” he said.
