Garissa County has been identified as major cholera hotspot.

The Ministry of Health also named Nairobi, Machakos and Kisumu as other counties in danger of cholera outbreak.

Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu said the national government is working with county governments to mitigate the killer disease.

"We have also sought international help from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Kenya Red Cross to curb the spread of the killer disease which was first reported in April this year," said the CS.

The report by Health Ministry comes a day after two people were confirmed dead as a result of the cholera outbreak in Kisumu on Tuesday.

One of the deceased was a prisoner at Kodiaga Maximum Prison.

Mailu confirmed that more than 100 cases of cholera have been recorded across the country since April.
