At least 47 people have been admitted in various hospitals in Nairobi, after they developed cholera related symptoms.
The outbreak is said to have been reported at Weston Hotel in Nairobi, which was hosting a science conference.
According to one Dr George Nyale, there have been reported cases at the facility, but it had been contained.
“We have contingency measures on the ground,” he said.
However, Director of Medical Services Jackson Kioko failed to confirm the outbreak, choosing to say the victims were suffering from food related infection.
According to Dr. Kioko, the ministry of Health will have to conduct tests to confirm if indeed there is an outbreak.
The doctors’ meeting started on Tuesday and was to end on Friday, with over 500 doctors in attendance.
The forum is meant to discuss the country’s vulnerability to respiratory diseases.
The hotel is associated with Deputy President William Ruto.
