Kenyan businessman Chris Kirubi has been honored with an appointment at Harvard University's Centre for African Studies.

His appointment came after a recommendation by Prof Emmanuel Alyeampong, who teaches History at the institution, which uses the Center for African Studies for all research relating to Africa.

The institution heavily relies on the input of the most knowledgeable and influential people in politics, academia and business.

Kirubi is a graduate of Harvard Business School, and has in the past served in the University's Global Advisory Council.

The businessman is expected to use his valuable networks so as to enhance the funding of the centre, research and the placement of the best students.

He has previously been featured on Forbes' list of the top 40 richest individuals in Africa, and he is therefore considered one of the most influential business leaders in the continent.
