IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati on Thursday eulogised the electoral body’s former ICT manager Chris Msando who was recently murdered and his body dumped in thicket in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.
Chebukati said Msando died a brutal death calling on the police to conclude investigations into his murder and bring to book those who took away his life.
“Monday July 31 will forever remain in my mind when I saw his body at the City Mortuary,” he said at the Consolata Shrine in Nairobi during Msando’s requiem mass.
“Though he was brutally snatched from us, his legacy will forever remain.”
He said he met Msando in January when both joined the new IEBC team that was constituted to oversee the August 8 general election.
He said Msando did not have to die “such a cruel and senseless death”.
“Msando had deep knowledge in IEBC ICT infrastructure. I stand here to say goodbye to a man who exhibited brilliance.”
The late Msando went missing on Friday July 28 only for his body to be discovered by family members at the City Mortuary two days later.
His body was discovered in Kikuyu before being transported to City Mortuary.
He will be buried at his rural home in Lifunga, Siaya County on Saturday.
