The message of forgiveness filled the Gusii stadium where Christian believers gathered to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Speaking to the congregation, Kisii African Inland Church Rev Victor Omurwa said that Passover is about God’s forgiveness to mankind and thus Kenyans should emulate the act of God.
“Kenyans must endeavor to embrace forgiveness by tolerating those who have wronged them. That is the only way the Easter season will have a meaning for themselves and the county in entirety,” said Mr Omurwa.
African Inland Church members in Gusii region welcomed the message by pitching the tent at the Gusii stadium from Friday and are expected to leave on Easter Monday (on Monday) to mark the annual event in Christianity.
Rev Omurwa said, “Kenyans have a divine duty to forgive and tolerate each other for them to be united and live peacefully as a nation.”
Omurwa challenged politicians, some who were known to nurse grudges and spoil for vindictiveness, against their perceived enemies to follow suit of forgiveness.
He condemned observing the occasion through engaging in evil activities such as drinking and sexual immorality as that, according to the reverend, would contravene God’s salvation plan for mankind through Jesus Christ.
