Kisumu Clergy Fellowship has condemned allegations of offering prayers to the county leadership at a fee.
The Fellowship General Secretary Pastor Patrick Owuor said they are dismayed by the statement that depicts them in bad light.
Owuor said any member of the clergy who might be embroiled in such actions is deemed unfit to work with them.
“We cannot allow our faith and belief to be soiled by some people who are out to make money,” he said.
He said such people are not representing the fellowship, but are doing so in their individual and personal capacities and must be held accountable.
Speaking in Kisumu during a press conference, Owuor said the culture of offering prayers for a fee is cultivating in the entire country, and must be condemned.
He apologized to the people of Kisumu on behalf of the clergy, who might have strayed and engaged in un-Godly affairs.
“On behalf of the Fellowship, let me take this opportunity to apologize to the people of Kisumu for the actions of some clergy people they have witnessed offering prayers for a fee,” he said.
Owuor said it is despicable to note that the church has been drawn into partisan wars in the political arena and taking active sides.
