Calvary Chosen Centre church in Thika town has kicked-off a 40 days journey of prayer and fasting.
Speaking to journalists at the church on Wednesday, the presiding pastor Rev David Ngari said that the prayers that began on Monday are meant for the country to be able to overcome the problems that have been facing her.
"We are at a very critical time of our country because we are less than two years to the elections. There has been very divisive politics that can bring chaos to our country and we find ourselves where we were in 2007. We also need prayers to avert disasters like road accidents, hunger and so on," said Ngari.
Ngari has also said that they are going to pray for economic prosperity, security and the war against corruption among other things.
"Our country has been enjoying a time of relative stability and security such that tourists are now coming to Kenya and we have even managed to open Garissa University again. We need to thank God for that and pray that even the war against corruption will bear fruit," he added.
