Deliverance Church Eldoret Bishop George Gichana has threatened to mobilise all Christians across the country not to vote for the Jubilee government if the proposed laws by Attorney General Githu Mugia and the Communications Authority of Kenya to regulate churches is enacted.
Speaking after a Sunday service, Gichana said the move is meant to deny Kenyans their right to worship.
"I am reading malice in the proposed laws meant to regulate churches. Someone wants to do away with churches. How can they say we cannot pray for people after a telecast," he said.
The cleric said they are not for the laws and will appeal on the same.
"Today we are signing forms that we will give to our lawyers which will give to our lawyers for them to start the process of appealing for the proposed laws. We want the government to involve all stakeholders before implementing the new laws,"he said.
Gichana said Christians will not vote for the Jubilee government if it allows such draconian laws to sail through.
"I urge the National Assembly not to pass the proposed laws without amendments since it will bring more harm than good to Christians," he said.
