A section of religious leaders from Nakuru County have distanced themselves with sentiments made by National Council of Churches Kenya Secretary General Rev.Canon Peter Karanja of an inclusive government to accommodate opposition leaders.

Addressing media in Nakuru jointly, Rev Richard Magondu of East Africa Pentecostal Church, Rev Francis Etan of Gospel Revival Centre and Rev Peter Ngugi of Happy Revival Churches in Kenya said Canon Karanja should desist from making statements without consulting all religious leaders.

“As church leaders in Nakuru we want to call on Rev Karanja to desist from making statements without consulting other religious leaders. We want peace and as a church we will do all we can to ensure there is stability,” Rev Magondu said.

Sentiments echoed by Francis Etan.

The clergy called on Kenyans to ensure they support the leadership that is in place and be ambassadors of peace in their respective estates.

“We prayed for peace and right now even in Nakuru we have peace so as leaders we are calling on Kenyans not to compromise the peace and stability,” he said.

On his part, Bishop Peter Ngugi of Happy Revival Churches of Kenya said 🚉 the church will always strive to unite Kenyans from different political divide.

Pastor Jackson Mbugua of Vocation Church of Mizpah called on all religious leaders in the country to preach peace and unity to all Kenyans.

“We need to emulate Jesus Christ who came preaching peace and unity and spread the gospel,” he said.

The clergy spoke in Nakuru on Thursday after holding a consultative meeting.
