Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga senatorial bid has received a massive boost after receiving an endorsement from Laikipia religious leaders and business community.
According to the leaders, Njenga is a 'reformed man of God' who needed all the support.
During a meeting a Nyahururu hotel, the 60 leaders promised to rally their supporters behind Njenga.
“Everyone has his or her own past and hence it would not be fair to continue branding Maina as a criminal and instead residents and Kenyans in general need to embrace his new and reformed life,” Peter Migwi one of the leaders said.
On his part, Njenga stated that he will be seeking the seat on a Jubilee ticket at the same time distancing himself from claims that he was a Cord member.
“I had only gone to the lakeside for some time since it is part of Kenya. Let the people know that I fully support the president and his deputy. I want to be a guardian of Laikipia people’s money and that is why I will go for the seat,” he said.
