Kiambu County residents from Gitare Village in Gatundu South on Tuesday took to the streets to protest over a ‘false prophet’, who has allegedly been soliciting his church members of sexual favours.
The said prophet is a church leader at Muhoho village at Belishiba Church, and is normally referred to as ‘Nabii Wanyonyi’ by the area residents.
One of the followers, who was among the protesters, alleged to have left the church after the ‘prophet’ told her that the spirit had instructed him to marry her.
He is also accused by the area residents for demanding livestock, cash and foodstuff from his followers, something that has led to the breakup of many families.
It had also been reported that the prophet has been asking for sexual favours from women followers in his congregation, claiming that the spirit has directed him to sleep with them, and those who refuse are branded as witches and possessed beings.
Residents from the area are now appealing to the relevant authorities to come to their rescue and prevent the prophet from further conning and misusing women in his congregation.
