Catholic leaders in Kisii will not allow head teachers from other faiths to head their schools.
Regional head Bishop Joseph Mairura said any change in the management of church run schools will stem disaster.
"We don't a Babylon to be created on the way our schools are run. Let Catholics run their schools and Seventh Day Adventists also manage their own,” he said.
Churches, he said, play a pivotal spiritual role that cannot be surrendered to the government to any other entity.
He was speaking yesterday at Gekano Parish in Nyamira County during a homily to celebrate 50 years since the parish was established.
He said gains mission schools have made over the decades will be eroded if nonconformist teachers were deployed to man them.
"We have invested a lot on these institutions. Such decisions should be rejected by all churches," he said.
Bishop Mairura however supported efforts by Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi to crack whip on exam cheats.
"These efforts should be supported by all parents in the country as well. Students must learn the virtues of integrity and honesty from schools and this cannot be if we abdicate supporting such efforts to sanitise the education system," he said.
The function has been attended by Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama, Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire and parliamentary aspirants Victor Swanya Ogeto and ,former Kuppet Secretary Edward Obwocha.
Nyagarama, on his part, said his administration will ensure land grabbed from schools is recovered.
