Deputy President William Ruto has asked religious leaders to play a leading role in helping contain the ongoing unrest in schools.
Speaking at Kapkeben Secondary School grounds during the launch of the new Africa Inland church (AIC) Sirikwa west region in Uasin-Gishu County, the deputy president said the government will involve all education stakeholders in addressing the problem.
Ruto said it was time religious leaders who are sponsors of most schools support and help come up with lasting solution to the chaos being witnessed in some schools across the country.
The deputy president added that teachers, parents and all education stakeholders should work together in ensuring discipline among students was maintained at all times.
MPs Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet), Karani Wachira (Laikipia West), Isaac Melly (Uasin -Gishu), Dan Wanyama (Webuye West) also spoke on the issue saying close to 80 schools have reported arson attacks in the last one month.
