Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa is expected to attend the walk, which will start from Muguga to Wangige.

The event will also involve clergy and members of the church form all denominations as well as the general public.

Speaking from her office, Kikuyu sub-county youth officer Maureen Musyoki highlighted drugs and alcohol as the major factors rendering the youth unproductive.

“Majority of the youth in this area are alcoholics meaning if this alarming issue if not dealt with appropriately then the sub-county is likely to suffer economically,” she said.

Speaking to our reporter, organiser Samuel Muhindi, of the Emmanuel Gospel Ministries church, noted that the event is one of many that will be conducted in the county. He called upon area leaders to join the course so that it can attract many young people.

“After the walk, together with the authorities and police, we are going to carry out a crackdown in the area to apprehend all those in the illegal illicit brewery business,” Pastor Muhindi added.

Muhindi added that he is confident the campaign is also going to work for the women who have been greatly affected by the illicit brew due to their children and husbands’ usage.
