The Church wants the anti-corruption watchdog EACC disbanded for failure to help contain runaway theft and looting of public resources.

Through their body National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), the church on Wednesday said that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission was part of a deception, fraud and hindrance mechanism which corrupt people were using to continue stealing.

According to the council, all politicians involved in corruption should have been barred from contesting for political seats in the country, something that has not been done.

Led by Canon Peter Karanja, the church leaders referred to corruption as an “economic treason” that must be redefined by a legislation outlining tougher penalties.
