Nyanza Council of Churches is now calling for healing and forgiveness among Kenyans after the acquittal of Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua Arap Sang by the International Criminal Court.
The chairman of the Council, Bishop Washington Ogonyo said all the Ocampo six are now free and Kenya must now move as a united nation.
Mr Ogonyo said reconciliation must be hastened by the government and asked Ruto to take the lead of bringing all Kenyans together.
“Deputy President is now a free man, let him traverse the entire country preaching peace,” he said.
He appealed to all Kenyans to attend the Thanksgiving Day organized by President Uhuru Kenyatta in Nakuru this mid month to pray and worship while giving thanks to God.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Wednesday, Ogonyo said the country is now free from the ICC york and attributed it to the spirited prayers Kenyans made.
He said the country will make great strides in terms of development if there is peace and cohesion amongst its citizens.
Ogonyo said that it is important for the country to go to the next polls in 2017 united.
“It is my prayers that the country goes to the polls in one unity, politics should not be allowed to divide us along tribal lines,” he said.
