Kariuki claimed that Muhoro failed to issue him with the certificate of good conduct in time despite the fact that he had made an early application.

His lawyer Macharia Kahonge said his client had applied for the certificate as early as June 27 and met all requirement but the police failed him.

The matter has since been addressed by Attorney General Githu Muigai.

“It is clear that the director of CID acted maliciously with the aim of sabotaging Justice Kariuki’s application for the position of Chief Justice,” read part of the letter addressed to AG Githu Muigai.

The lawyer said that Justice Kariuki had no criminal record hence the certificate was to be issued within a day.

Mr Kahonge has also said Justice Kariuki has not taken the matter lightly and he is planning to sue Muhoro.
