A Nakuru court heard that Egerton University terror hoax suspect was arrested alongside two other students who were released after investigations.
Patrick Muriuki based at the Njoro CID office on Tuesday told the court that during the arrest of Robert Mungai, alias Mohammed Bluez, he learned that it was actually Mungai who he had seen on television as a wanted man and also on the pictures in his facebook account.
Muriuki told the court that the other two students were arrested by the university security team after they were allegedly found circulating the messages but upon interrogations, they were found to have not been the originators of the message, and that they were just alerting their fellow students.
He said that he received a phone call requesting him to accompany the investigating officer, Alex Muinde to arrest the accused at his house, after which they took him to the CID offices in Nakuru.
Muriuki also told the court that the phone Mungai used was given to the cyber crime experts to extract any further useful information to be used in the case.
Mungai is facing six counts of issuing circulating terror messages on April 3 and April 4, 2015, at a time when the country was mourning the death of Garissa University students.
He has been in custody since his arrest after his family failed to raise a Sh750, 000 bond given for his release after he denied all the counts.
Senior Principal Magistrate Liz Gicheha scheduled the next hearing date for December 1 and issued a hearing summon for the remaining three witnesses.
