Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) Vice Chairman Sheikh Hassan Suleiman is dead.

Sheikh Suleiman died aged 70 on Sunday at his Guraya home in Mombasa.

Speaking on behalf of his collegues, CIPK Organising Secretary Sheikh Mohammed Khalifa said Sheikh Suleiman had in the last three years battled with heart and kidney problems.

“He has been sick for a while and passed on a few minutes ago. We have started burial arrangements which will take place this evening,” said Sheikh Khalifa on Sunday, as quoted by the Nation.

Sheikh Suleiman, who will be remembered for spearheading the fight against radicalisation and terrorism in Mombasa, was taken to Masjid Noor for special Muslim prayer before being laid to rest at Seif Halwa Muslim cemetery.
