Nairobi governor-elect Mike Sonko has down-played claims that the cleaning and garbage collection programme he began in the CBD is a PR gimmick.

This comes after Sonko on Saturday headed two groups of the Sonko Rescue Team in cleaning areas along Moi Avenue.

Sonko told the media that the move was aimed at ensuring his governance is shaped towards service delivery.

"I visited Kigali yesterday with his Excellency the President and I saw how Kigali city is up to standard. Our aim as a county government is restore Nairobi’s glory to the cleanest town if not in Africa, within Eastern and Central Africa,” he said.

“This is not a PR or a media show, we are here to ensure that Nairobi looks better because this is what is in our hearts and we are dedicated to achieve it”.
