Nairobi city-county has missed its 2016/17 revenue collection by 25 percent collecting Sh25.5 billion from the projected Sh34 billion target.
Among the most rewarding units include parking fees, followed by single business permits and building permits among other revenue magnets for the county.
Betting Control and Lotteries earned the county Sh400,000 against the projected target of Sh10 million.
The new target for the financial year 2017/18 rest at Sh39 billion with the county aiming to improve revenue collection mechanisms to ensure it reaches the target.
“The county has consistently achieved an average of 78 percent of its revenue targets. This trend continues to undermine prospects for full implementation of the county’s integrated development plan and by extension, the strategic plan 2015-2025,” reads part of the Nairobi County annual report.
