Residents who spoke during an open forum convened by the county government criticised the budget as being too expensive with no tangible outcome that can benefit the city residents.

Jacob Owiyo, a businessman in the city, lamented that the county government has perfected in underground initiatives marred with massive corruption and lacking transparency.

"The county government has not even provided us with a status report detailing how the last budgetary allocation was spent and implemented. How do we trust that this year's big allocation will benefit citizens?" asked Owiyo.

Another resident, Rose Irungu who spoke in the forum faulted City Hall for misusing them in endorsing budgets that are inefficient.

"We have not been informed on the output of the previous budget and here we are again being told to endorse this one (budget),’’ Irungu asked.

Amid the concerns, the county's chair on budgetary matters, Michael Ogada assured the public that the allocated amounts would be used appropriately and timely reports generated for the public to access.
