Nairobi county Askaris have pulled town over thirty billboards belonging to the city's gubernatorial aspirant Philip Kisia.
Explaining the move, the county's management said the exercise was in an effort to collect all unpaid rates which have since accrued to a high of Sh100 million.
According to an audit report released by the City Hall revenue enforcement task-force, Kisia owes Nairobi county a total of Sh647,720 in the lamppost advertisement fee.
The report further alleged that his outdoor advertising company namely IQ Marketing, had been advertising on the City Hall way after he successfully won a tender in KICC.
“Philip Kisia, who is the former Nairobi Town Clerk successfully secured a tender from the KICC to advertise the Indee Kenya. However, he has never paid any single cent to the county in rates,” issued a task-force committee member.
According to John Ntoiti, who is the head of operations revenue enforcement team, the recently established task-force aims at collecting all accumulated revenues from Outdoor advertising, land rates and even rent.
