City Hall is set to issue new uniforms to its inspectorate team in a bid targeted at reducing incidences of impersonation and apparent harassment of members of the public by fake officers.
County Secretary Robert Ayisi directed that the new uniforms, once issued, will be worn at all times when an officer is on duty.
The announcement came just days after four people were apprehended and charged for impersonating and posing as members of the inspectorate department and at the same time harassing the public.
"We need to ensure that our county inspectorate uniform is unique as part of the culture reforms. We are in the final stages of ensuring our staff members, especially our front office staff, get electronic cards that use biodata to show that the owner of the card is the authentic bearer," he said.
"For the uniforms, we have already presented it to be gazetted and once this happens, we shall announce it to the public. It is very different and unique. It is not going to be like the usual grey colour. The lower part is different and the upper part is also different. The jacket is similarly different," he added.
