City Hall on Tuesday rewarded a total of 471 bright students from the various lowly rated residential areas in Nairobi County.

The county government disbursed bursaries worth over sh56 million shillings to needy but deserving students with tested academic future.

In a statement circulated to media houses and also posted in the Governor Kidero’s official Facebook page, the city government rewarded bright students with a token bursary that caters for all their tuition fees as stipulated by the Ministry of Education. Each student was awarded a disbursement of sh53, 554 in a new tact that sought to reach all deserving children.

Commenting on the efficiency of the bursary scheme, Kidero noted that his government had made a public appeal that no school going child should miss school due to fee-related problems. He hinted that the exercise was just the beginning of new things that the county is set to benefit from.

So far the Nairobi Governors Executive Bursary Scheme has disbursed over sh80 million to 700 needy students in the various wards in the city-county.
