Police in Riruta Satellite are holding a man suspected of killing his step-daughter in Ngong forest.
Stephen Otieno will be charged with murder of the girl, a prosecutor told Kibera Courts on Monday.
Parts of the three-year-old girl's body were found in the forest last week, a month after she disappeared.
Last week, detectives told the court that Mr Otieno took them to the forest where they found his identity card, his mobile phone and the girl's clothes.
Otieno is said to have left home on August 18, with the child when the mother was at work. He returned after 24 hours without the girl.
"Due to the developments we are asking the court to allow police to hold the accused for seven more days," the prosecutor urged the court.
Otieno did not object the application. The case will be mentioned on October 5,2017.
It was revealed that Otieno had accused his wife for disrespecting him and reminding him that the girl's biological father was more responsible than him.
