Nairobi City traders have congratulated President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for their victory in the poll conducted last week.
The two Jubilee Party leaders were on Monday declared the winners of the October 26 fresh election by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati.
Members of the Hood Group Businessmen and Professionals termed the win a great step towards restoration of investor confidence in the economy.
"Now that the election is behind us, let’s move forward to rebuild our economy which has suffered due to prolonged politics," said group chairman Nderitu Mwangi, addressing the press at the Intercontinental Hotel, Nairobi.
The business consortium condemned the violence reported during the electioneering period, terming it perturbing.
They asked the government to investigate the matter and bring culprits to book.
"We are also appealing to Kenyans to stop politicking as it is creating anxiety and negatively affecting businesses across the country," Mwangi added.
