Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko efforts to woo Business tycoon Chris Kirubi to back his gubernatorial bid have proven futile after he rejected the offer.
Earlier on, Sonko had taken to social media asking the influential businessman to join his team of advisors as he seeks to dethrone incumbent Governor Evans Kidero.
The flamboyant posted: "I am and have always been a team player who will delegate, assign, and appoint professionals to run the affairs of the county, to that effect, plans are underway to make investor Chris Kirubi as our county's Chief Economic Advisor," as quoted by Standard.
Kirubi questioned how the senator could offer him a job even before meeting him. He also said that he does have his number or spoken to him before.
"How do you offer a job to someone you have never met or spoken to? I don't know this man neither do I have his number," Kirubi posed.
The businessman, who is known to own different ventures in the city and entire world, retorted that he is not interested in the field of politics, adding that he has never considered the idea in his life.
"I am not interested in politics, I work for International organisations and I have no time for Sonko’s job offer," he added.
This comes at a time when the senator is seeking support to rise to the City’s top job which has attracted different candidates including Former Kathiani MP Peter Kenneth.
