The lady, Ms Jackline Mwende had her hands chopped off by the husband Mr Stephen Ngila due to the lack of children in their house. This is very disturbing considering the two had sort hospital help with their problem. The lack of children in the house does not justify one to chop the hands of the other.

The government in conjunction with other human rights activists should conduct a countrywide civic education on domestic violence.

Most of these people engaging in domestic violence lack the knowledge on how to handle family issues and only believe that violence is the only remedy. They should be taught on how to solve issues in their homesteads to have a peaceful coexistence.

Kenya is grappling with the need to foster faster growth and development. This recommendable and so should it also strive to have a society informed on all sectors of life.

The battering of women, men and children should be stopped. All Kenyans should maintain sanity in the society and should understand that violence does not solve anything.

The man chopped off the wife's hands, but did it solve his childlessness predicament? I do not think so. All men and women in the country should shun violence as it derails development in the society.
