[photo/eDailyKenya]Civil servant who completed paying for housing units sold under a government-funded scheme will be issued with ownership papers in two weeks.On Wednesday Land principal secretary said plans are underway to give 1,300 civil servants ownership documents to encourage others who are servicing mortgages to fast-track payments.Nicholas Muraguri the Land principal secretary said, this will help the government to till back the income and benefit more civil servants.“The government wishes to fast-track issuance of titles to all public servants who have purchased houses from the Civil Servants Housing Scheme Fund (CSHSF) and have completed paying the full purchase price,” he said.To make great use of land, the CSHSF has taken on highrise-building model with all projects being remodeld into gated communities with shared facilities like playgrounds and shopping centres.The beneficiaries of the project are 3,072 civil servants in various parts of the country. CSHSF announced last week 250 units would be put up in Kisumu and another 620 units in Machakos, Kiambu and Embu counties under the scheme.The Land ministry says it has identified land in the three counties where old bungalows occupied by senior civil servants will be demolished to pave the way for the nine-storeyed blocks comprising of one, two and three bedroom apartments.
