Civil servants will now be required to sit a written examination to qualify for promotion as part of proposed new regulations by the Public Service Commission (PSC).
The move is aimed at streamlining the public sector. In the Draft PSC Regulations (Validation) 2018, set to replace the current PSC Regulations of 2005, the commission will develop and through a gazette notice publish a curriculum for such exams.
Tomorrow, PSC has invited stakeholders to a workshop that will bring together Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, representatives of State corporations, constitutional commissions and independent offices, unions, county public service boards, county assembly service boards, professional bodies and public officers to brainstorm on the proposed new regulations.
Stakeholders at the workshop will review the draft and make recommendations that will be consolidated into the final document to be forwarded to the Attorney General for gazettement upon approval by Parliament.
It will be opened by PSC chairperson Prof Margaret Kobia.
