The Union of Kenya Civil Servants (UKCS) has issued a three-week notice to the Public Service Commission (PSC) to release a report on the harmonisation of salaries and allowances in the public service.

UKCS chairman Noah Rotich in a telephone conversation said the commission agreed to release the report on house allowance, hardship allowance and scheme of services.

He noted that the delay was causing disharmony among the workers hence affecting service delivery at both county and national governments.

The chairman added that the commission should come up with new salary structures and scales to address the issue to ensure effective service delivery among the employees.

He claimed that PSC had agreed to release the report in July after a consultative meeting with the union in June this year. Rotich added that there has been no communication on the cause of delay.

The chairman lamented that the delay to release the report is causing disharmony and discontent civil servants since the workers are aware of what was announced by the Ministry of Devolution to release the outcome of the fate of their allowances.

Rotich decried that most professional public workers like doctors and engineers are resigning and joining well-structured organisations due to poor payment and huge disparity at counties.
