Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town on Monday, the groups under the Garissa Civil Society Association said that they will support Korane as he seeks to fulfil the development pledges he made to locals.
Led by Garissa Civil Society Association chairman Khalif Abdi, the civil groups urged Korane to fight for the interests of the people without discrimination.
Abdi said that Garissa is a cosmopolitan county adding that the welfare of all communities must be tackled fairly.
The civil society leader also asked Korane to push for the county's security and respect of human rights.
Abdi said that insecurity is the main issue facing the county.He observed that human rights have often been violated during security operations aimed at flushing out terror suspects and criminal elements.
"Our appeal is to governor Korane to ensure that his goverment tackles the issues facing Garissa people without discrimination, and also upholds their rights as provided for in the constitution '' he said as quoted by the Star.
Abdi said that the civil society will remain vocal on human rights issues in the county.
He said that they will keep Koranes's government in checks to ensure it uphopds the interests of the people.
Korane was elected governor in the recently general election.
During his inauguration on Monday last week, the Jubilee governor pledged to deliver the promises he made during campaigns.
He also pledged to work with all stakeholders on pushing the county's development genda forward.
