Chief Justice David Maraga. [Photo/Nation.]A Jubilee party MP has claimed that CJ David Maraga had secret phone interactions with the lawyers that represented Raila Oding during the presidential petition.
Nyeri town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu in his petition filed to remove Maraga from office claimed that the Supreme court president had numerous unprofessional phone calls with NASA lawyers during the August 8 presidential petiton.
Wambugu said that CJ Maraga also interacted with Raila's associates, political supporters of NASA and other persons whose connection with the petition is unknown as at present.
"Those contacts were unprofessional. The CJ concealed those conversations from the other parties that presidential petition in breach of the Judicial Code of Conduct and Ethics", said the MP.
"JSC should seek to know the complete call logs of Maraga's phone numbers and breakdown analysis of the calls made to and from the said numbers during the period outlining the frequency and duration of the calls", he added.
Wambugu now wants Chief Justice David Maraga removed from office for gross misconduct during the hearing of a petition filed by Raila that led to the nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta's win in the August 8 polls.
