Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta's peace deal should be supported by all leaders across the political divide, Chief Justice David Maraga has said.
For weeks now, a number of players from both sides of political divide have been wrangling over the famous handshake, with even Uhuru admitting at Kenneth Matiba's funeral.
"Not everybody was happy to see Raila and I solving our differences. Some are even hitting us behind our back. We invite them to join us."
Understandably, it is deputy president William Ruto's camp that has come out openly to complain of being shortchanged.
And at Naivasha during a unity meeting for Gusii people, Maraga said the country would prosper if the two leaders are supported by all politicians.
"They agreed to work together and they control a huge following. As leaders, you should back their plan for the sake of this nation.
"For us to preach peace, we must be honest. If you pull them back, then we may not achieve the results," he added.
It was the first time the Chief Justice was attending a political meeting following a divisive presidential election that tested his leadership as well.
