Speaking on Monday while admitting 125 new lawyers into the Supreme Court roll of advocates in Nairobi, the CJ said that his office and the Law Society of Kenya are collaborating on the matter and are set to launch a common front to counter the trend.

The CJ also called upon the society to play its part to ensure that none of its members is involved, saying that it’s the job of the society to ensure that its members have integrity and are not involved in any corrupt dealings.

''There is a corresponding duty for the Law Society of Kenya to take a far reach measures to punish corrupt members within the society,'' he said

The Judge, who was presiding over his first advocate swearing in, also warned the judges who take bribes from the lawyers in order to rule on their favour, saying that such behavior will not be condoned and neither the briber nor the one being bribed will be safe from the law.

''The saying lawyer for hire and judge for sale should not take root in our legal system,'' he said.
