Maraga who made his first home return to Kisii since his appointment to the top judiciary job also warned judges against ‘laziness’ maintaining that he would ensure cases are handled in an expeditious manner.

He urged Kenyans to have ‘complete’ faith in judicial system adding that he was ready to ‘do away’ with dark history of the third arm of government.

“I was given this job to ensure fair administration of justice and that is what I am going to do. The law should affect all of us equally regardless of our social –economic status because we belong to one God,” said Maraga at Nyaronde in Borabu constituency.

“We must start having complete faith in the judicial system because we are endowed to serve you with dignity. I believe that I will do away with the dark history of the judicial system,” he added.

Maraga was speaking in Borabu constituency during the burial of Mrs. Peris Kegoro, mother to human rights lawyer George Kegoro.
