Clan elders from the Aulian clan on the Kenya-Somalia border have come together to ‘cleanse’ Farah Maalim and resolve the fight that broke out between him and a former Somali Minister Jama Gele in Nairobi few weeks ago.

Speaking in Garissa Town, Aulian chairperson Sultan Sheikh Hamud announced that the bitter altercation which happened in Nairobi was unfortunate, and one that should have not happened in the in the first case.

Sheikh Hamud disclosed that the elders from the two respective sides have amicably resolved the matter using traditional mechanisms, with Maalim appreciating the role played by the clan elders and family in cleansing the altercation.

“It was regrettable that a fight which should not have happened ensued between the two leaders. I want to apologise to the community on their behalf, the Somali and Kenyan populations alike. We have now resolved to move on and the issue is behind us,” he stated.

Maalim, who is eyeing Duale's Garissa Township parliamentary seat, has remained quiet over the events that led to the fight, criticizing his political opponents for manipulating the incident to seek political relevance.

“People of Garissa County can bank on me to bring them transformative leadership if and when I become their next Member of Parliament,” Maalim said.
