Clan politics is expected to dominate in determining who Garissa county governor Ali Korane will pick to his cabinet.

According to the Star, governor Korane is reviewing his list before formally announcing his nominees.

Clans are said to be pushing to have their people picked to the cabinet so that those picked will in return influence in making major county decisions and winning lucrative contracts.

Abduwak where Korane comes from also won senator and the woman rep seats.

The governor however, is expected to appoint members from the Aulian and Samawadhal clans as well consider minority tribes that reside in Garissa.

Despite that the Aulian clan voted overwhelmingly voted for former governor Nathif Jama, the clan has hopes to get 2 cabinet slots since Jama durign his tenure appointed two Adbduwak clan members.

Korane is expected to unveil his cabinet nominees by Tuesday next week, the official day the county assembly is set for opening.
