Residents of Kitale town have been left puzzled after a class six girl decided to take away her life on Saturday after allegedly being quarreled by her mother.
A neighbour Francisca Ingosi told journalists that the family can't still believe that the girl at her tender age could think suicide after a brief quarrel with her mum.
She said the mother engaged in a verbal altercation with the minor after suspecting she was in a relationship with a class eight boy in the neighbourhood.
"We still can't believe because ta that age it's rear to think suicide," Ingosi said.
The girl is said to have hanged herself in her parent's house when all other family members were away. She took away her life when it was heavily raining in the area.
Ingosi said the minor had had frequent confrontations with her mother a development that made her uncomfortable at home.
She is said to have threatened to commit suicide if her mother continued "digging into her private affairs".
The neighbour reported that girl killed herself at around 4pm on Saturday.
Police have launched investigations into the incident. Her body was taken to the Kitale Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
The incident happened two months after a woman committed suicide in the neighbouhood.
