Officials from Mombasa County government on Monday engaged in a consultative and review meeting of garbage collection and disposal in the County.
Led by County Secretary Francis Thoya, Sub County Administration led by Coordinator Idris Abdirahman, Devolution and Public Service Administration CeC Seth Odongo, Environment, Waste Management and Energy Chief Officer June Mwajuma, Inspectorate together with other officers, the team appreciated the ongoing efforts in clearing piles of garbage at the grassroots but pointed out that much is still needed to be done in order to achieve a cleaner and healthier city for all.
The deliberations saw more fresh strategies on how to speed up the ongoing clean ups, arresting of illegal dumping of garbage among other environmental concerns garnered for immediate action.
Residents were urged to support the current clean up efforts through exercising responsible garbage disposal.
The County government is conducting garbage clearance across the County by officers from the department of Environment, Waste Management and Energy.
Through the coordination from Sub County Administration, the officers managed to clear Pirates, Manyimbo, Micheleni, Liwatoni among other areas on Monday.
