Uthiru clergy has called on the leaders in the country to help thousands of people already facing acute food shortage by providing them with relief food.
Pastor Edward Kamau of Uthiru Church of Christ said that over 1 million people are under threat of starvation following a long spell of drought.
“Over one million Kenyans are going to bed hungry and it is our responsibility to help them,” said Kamau.
Speaking at Uthiru during a church service, the clergy called on leaders to provide urgent measures to rescue the affected Kenyans.
“We can join hands and help our brothers and sisters with relief food,” he said.
Last Week Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru revealed that over 1.6 million Kenyans living in arid regions are facing acute food shortage and said that Jubilee administration will spend ash 3 billion to buy relief food for those starving.
The cleric also urged the church to support the government's effort in provision of relief food.
Kamau urged the government to come with better policies to address rampant food shortages in the country.
