Bishop Winnie Owiti addressing the press in Kisumu on Friday.
The clergy is calling upon resident Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga to hold talks and end the political stalemate in the country.
Kisumu County head of clergy Bishop Winnie Owiti said the country is in a state of confusion.
Owiti said the two leaders must rise up and show leadership.
“We are sending an appeal to our leaders to come together and talk out this issue; we need to move ahead as a country to prosperity. What we are witnessing will plunge our country into chaos,” he said.
She also called upon the electoral body to ensure that they organize the coming polls within the Constitution and in lie with the Supreme Court ruling.
Addressing the press in Kisumu, Owiti said IEBC must now ensure that whatever they do is within the law.
“IEBC should not misguide Kenyans in whatever they do, let them stick to the law and not doing things outside the law,” he said.
Owiti also noted that Kenyan lawyers should interpret law in the wake of Raila pulling out of the election.
She said that most lawyers are interpreting laws while leaning towards their political parties.
“Most lawyers use TVs and radio talk shows to mislead Kenyans on what the laws says in regard to the recent court ruling and the pulling out of Raila from the race,” he said.
