The Seventh Day Adventist Church District pastor Richard Ondieki has banned politics in all the churches in the area as the general election draws nearer.
Ondieki noted that as the country approaches general elections, most politicians in the region start flocking the churches pretending to seek divine intervention but instead use the podium to seek popularity.
He said they should not be allowed to take advantage of the flock to push their political agenda this time round.
Speaking during a week long crusade at Nyaura SDA in Kisii Central ward, the pastor said the order should be implemented by all church leaders and their committees who will strictly not allow politicians to engage in politics during church services.
“Politicians from the area are now misusing the church to drive their political agenda and that is not what we want as a society," said Ondieki.
"If they come they will just come like any ordinary worshiper and not like a politician,” he added.
The cleric noted that church members belong to different political parties and that allowing politicians to campaign in the places of worship will obviously create division amongst the worshippers.
